The tiny town of Fair Haven in Vermont doesn’t have a mayor.
So the residents got together and decided to elect their own honorary
mayor. Only it’s not a human. It’s an animal.
Last week it was the mayoral election, and a 3-year old goat beat out more
than a dozen other pets for the title of honorary mayor.
Lincoln, a Nubian goat, was chosen by residents in Fair Haven, a town of
roughly 2,500 people that sits along the border of Upstate New York.
The goat was among 15 other animals on the ballot. Lincoln beat out a cat,
a dog and even a gerbil named Crystal for the job.

Lincoln took 13 of the 53 votes cast, just surpassing a dog named Sammie
who took home 11.

As mayor, Lincoln will be expected to attend local and major events, and
he'll wear a custom sash.
